Moving Checklist

2 MONTHS BEFORE YOU MOVE

  1. Start your research of moving company or simply contact us, Nizaf Mover & Logistics to get the best experience of moving. Contact our Salesperson and brief them about your moving details including flight arrangement and household estimation.
  2. Get initial quotation and confirmation of your moving date, costs, and other details from our Salesperson. Initial quotation is important to estimate your budget and also to avoid unnecessary spending.
  3. Organize school records. Go to your children’s school and arrange for their records to be transferred to their new school district.
  4. Give notice to your landlord. Renting? You’ll need to give your landlord a heads-up about the move. Many leases require tenants to give their landlords at least 60 days notice when moving out.
  5. Sell or donate unwanted items. This is the perfect time to have garage/car boot sales for the stuff you’ve always wanted to get rid of anyway.

1 MONTH BEFORE YOU MOVE

  1. Order moving supplies. From boxes and bubble wrap to tape and packing paper, these materials will help ensure that your belongings arrive safely at your new home. If you require packer service and packaging materials from Nizaf Mover & Logistics, then you don’t have to buy it all in large quantities, just enough to pack personal items.
  2. Schedule car shipping service (if moving overseas to Sabah & Sarawak). If you need to ship your vehicle to your new home, contact Nizaf Mover & Logistics at least a month in advance to make arrangements. Door to door service usually takes 2-3 weeks to arrive, so plan your shipping early.
  3. Make an inventory of everything to be moved. Make sure to check all your belongings and make an inventory of everything to be moved. Visit every room in the house and decide what you would take with you and what you want to get rid.
  4. Separate valuables and important documents. Pack valuables such as jewellery, watches and personal documents separately. You would want to carry them with you to minimize the risk of losing them.
  5. Decide on your moving date. Do check with us if the date you are requesting is still available on our weekly schedule.

2 WEEKS BEFORE YOU MOVE

  1. Contact utility companies. Arrange to close or change your utility accounts such as electricity, WIFI and Astro. Some of these can be done online.
  2. Start packing non-daily items. Start packing things that you are not going to need for the next month such as books, photo albums and that fancy dinnerware you use once a year.
  3. Hire a waste removal company if needed. If you have unwanted items left in your existing home, hire a waste removal company to dispose of them for you.
  4. Request time off from work. Plan your moving day, and be sure to let your superior, coworkers, and clients know you’ll be out of the office.
  5. Confirm important moving dates with us just in case you need to reschedule due to some inevitable matters. Now you just need to verify everything is still scheduled as planned.

1 WEEK BEFORE YOU MOVE

  1. Label everything! Number each box so that you can keep track of how many you have. Label each box with its contents to save time during unpacking.
  2. Empty your refrigerator. Clean the refrigerator and defrost it at least 24 hours before moving day, if you are taking it with you. Make sure it is entirely empty and clean.
  3. Disassemble big furniture items. It will save a ton of time if you break down large furniture items like bed frames, section couches, and bookshelves before the movers arrive.
  4. Pack your suitcases. Get everyone in the family a suitcase they can live out of for a few days or weeks.
  5. Clean your new home before moving in. It’ll save time and the hassle of working around boxes and furniture.

MOVE DAY

  1. On the day of your moving, you can just relax and let our team handle and complete everything for you.
